Happy Happy Joy Joy

Just a quick note to say that I’m very much looking forward to Saturday, June 3rd, as my wife returns home after two weeks spending time with her family in Texas.

While she’s been away, I’ve gone by my parents for some home cooking plus my other relatives in KC have kept me well fed. Last weekend, I had fun spending a birthday dinner with my nephew (who turned 6 on Memorial Day) and my Mom (who celebrated her birthday on Saturday, 5/28) and for those that are friends with me on Facebook, see photos there.

I’m especially pleased to see my dad out and about after his recent health issues.  Now, he’s busy with all of his meetings as he loves to be involved with various parts of the community.

The youth at church had Youth + Graduation Sunday a couple weeks ago so things are a little bit slower right now before we jump into Vacation Bible School with Veggie Tales & Veggie Town.  Plus, we have a couple Mission Trips this summer.  Also, I just finished reading Their Eyes Were Watching God for our church’s book club.

The Cub Scouts had their final Pack meeting of the year and a couple boys earned their Arrow of Light and Bridged over into the Boy Scout Troop.  Next up, the cubs have Day Camp; then, the Boy Scouts will head to Bartle for summer camp.

At the office, The Star just completed its Triple Crown contest in the Advertising division while KansasCity.com is about to launch www.DealSaver.com/kansascity with daily deals (sign up today to get messages in your in-box) but the biggest news in the office is that Mark Zieman has moved from Publisher of The Kansas City Star to Vice President of Operations at McClatchy.  Thankfully, he will oversee Kansas City so we’ll still get to work with him but it will mean changes for us.

So, I’ve been busy.

I love my family, my church, and my job but everyday life is just a whole let more enjoyable when Liz is around.  So, let me just say “Welcome home!” to my bride … perhaps I should go clean something before her flight arrives.
